COMMUNITY UPDATE: Women In Rugby Event

By Mirelle Macdonald

In Australia, one in three women has experienced physical or sexual assault in her lifetime. These women are our mothers, girlfriends, wives, daughters, colleagues and friends. The mission of White Ribbon is to change the attitudes and behaviours that support or excuse this violence against women in Australia.

The White Ribbon Campaign objectives are:

  • to create widespread awareness of the positive role that men can play in stopping violence against women;
  • to enable leadership, particularly by men and boys, to bring about social change, and;
  • to build collective knowledge and understanding of the effective prevention of violence against women.

Women in Rugby was but one of the many events taking place across Australia to raise awareness for White Ribbon Day, 25 November, the UN Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.

The Women In Rugby event is held every year and we are extremely proud to be sponsoring this event each year for the mums of our young rugby stars.

The Taylor Bridge Rugby Club donated 100% of all profits raised to White Ribbon Australia.

A big thank you from the entire team at Ray White Sherwood, in particular Aimee Carding & Georgia Pevy, for having us and congratulations to the winner of our Yellow Bike!
